  • Royal Delft Blue
  • Rotterdam harbour experience
  • Capital city flair in Amsterdam

The cultural treasure trove that is The Hague, the city by the sea, impresses with numerous "royal pearls" and a pleasant ambience. Stately buildings characterise the silhouette of the historic city centre. But not only the past, but also the mixture of old and modern has its place in the Netherlands: Maasvlakte, the new gigantic harbour of Rotterdam, will inspire you. A tour of the harbour area and a visit to the museum ship SS Rotterdam will leave you in awe.

Day 1: Arrival Zoetermeer
Travel to Zoetermeer, which is located in the province of South Holland near The Hague. On the day of arrival, we recommend a stopover in the famous cheese town of Gouda. On a tour of this beautiful cheese town, you can see the fairytale town hall, the old cheese scales, canals, cosy street cafés and lots of cheese in the small shops (optional). Gouda is a typical Dutch city with a rich history and modern life. A city straight out of a picture book!

Day 2: Royal flair in The Hague – royal blue in Delft – 60 km - F
Today is a royal day. The Hague is first on the programme for your day trip. This city is like a cultural treasure chest - packed full of treasures from the past of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. The starting point is the monumental Renaissance memorial to Willem van Oranje, the "Father of the Fatherland". Other highlights include: the Kneuterdijk Palace, a white city palace and pearl of the city centre; the Paleis Noordeinde, the official residence of the monarchy; the Escher Palace, former residence of Queen Emma and De Haagsche Passage, the oldest covered shopping centre in Holland. You will also pass the Binnenhof, a medieval building complex that houses the seat of the Dutch government. Right next door, the Mauritshuis houses one of the most beautiful art collections in the country. The tour then continues to Delft, where the famous "Delft Blue" is still painted by hand on ceramics. Royal Delft, founded in 1653, is the last remaining ceramics factory from the 17th century. Discover all about the history, craftsmanship and innovation of this royal factory during your visit.

Day 3: Amsterdam – the beautiful capital – 130 km
Today takes you to the capital of the Netherlands – Amsterdam. During a visit, you will discover the highlights of the city built on wooden piles, such as the magnificent, listed patrician houses or numerous renowned museums, in which you will find world-famous paintings by old masters as well as modern art of the highest calibre. One of the most popular sights is the Royal Palace, the Paleis op de Dam, which is still used for representative purposes today. A ring of atmospheric canals runs in a semi-circle around the centre, which is criss-crossed by other waterways.
After your city tour, enjoy a boat trip on the incomparable canals of Amsterdam. From the water, you will experience the scenery as captured by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer in his village streets. You can admire the characteristic architecture of the patrician houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. Afterwards, we recommend a visit to the famous Heineken brewery (optional). In this historic building, visitors are initiated into the secrets of beer brewing, as many original brewing utensils are still on display. The museum skilfully combines tradition with state-of-the-art technology and has many surprises in store.

Day 4: Rotterdam – Fascination harbour and shipping history – 70 km - F
Today you will travel to Rotterdam and experience Europe's most modern harbour up close. The development of the newest harbour area, Maasvlakte, will amaze you. Here you will find the most modern container terminals in the world, the largest seagoing vessels and the latest innovations in the offshore sector. After a short visit to the FutureLand information centre, you will see and hear lots of interesting facts on a guided bus tour of the port area.
Then it's on to the maritime side of things: come on board the SS Rotterdam and find out everything you need to know and special stories from more than forty years of illustrious steamship history on the "Wind and Weather" tour (Sea Breeze Deluxe Tour). The SS Rotterdam is the largest passenger ship ever built in the Netherlands and now serves as a museum and hotel ship. It was used by the Holland-Amerika-Lijn in the liner service between Rotterdam and New York with a stopover in Le Havre. In the past, passengers were greeted and bid farewell in Rotterdam and New York. Travel back in time and experience this spectacle on this tour. Visit the upper decks, the bow and the bridge deck, take a look at the wheelhouse from the inside and take a peek into the rooms behind it to get a glimpse of what life on board was like back then.

Day 5: Journey home - F
Before travelling home, you have the opportunity to bid farewell to the royal city of The Hague and the beach of Scheveningen with one last bird's eye view: take a walk along the beach to "De Pier" and climb aboard Europe's first Ferris wheel above the sea. Enjoy the impressive view of the city skyline and fulfil your longing for the sea (optional). Tot Ziens!
