With 9,000 hectares of vineyards, the Moselle region is by no means the largest wine-growing area in Germany, but it is the oldest - and world-famous thanks to its almost 4,000 hectares of steep slopes with a gradient of over 30 percent. The region along the Moselle is prized worldwide for its fruity and very mineral Riesling wines.
Experience the picturesque old town of Cochem, which is famous for its Reichsburg castle and stands for German castle romance. Stroll through the narrow alleyways and past half-timbered houses to get to know Cochem better. A Moselle boat trip to Beilstein, the Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle, is a must on a Moselle tour. Take a tour of the small town.
Day 1: Arrival Moselle - A
Today you are traveling to Germany's oldest and most famous wine-growing region. Take your first stroll through Cochem's narrow streets with their many well-preserved half-timbered houses.
Day 2: Excursion to Koblenz - F/A
The Deutsches Eck with its emperor, the Electoral Palace, miles of riverside promenades, Stolzenfels Castle, the epitome of Rhine romance and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress towering above it all. The spectacular cable car across the Rhine, the wine village, the Forum Confluentes... And much more: Koblenz is not only one of the oldest cities in Germany, but also one of the most diverse. Discover the sights of the city on the Rhine and Moselle together with your local tour guide.
We recommend that you extend your stay and also explore Koblenz "from above" (optional). Together with your guide, you will take the cable car (optional) across the Rhine to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, one of the largest fortifications in Europe. You float above the Rhine and enjoy a magnificent view of the city with its sights and the Deutsches Eck. Once at the top, your guide will tell you about Ehrenbreitstein's 5,000 years of history during this combined tour (optional) and bring history to life at original locations.
Day 3: Moselle with boat trip - F/A
After breakfast, you will be taken on a guided tour of the town of Cochem. The town's landmark is the Reichsburg. The late Gothic building with its incomparable outline rises more than 100m above the Moselle on a striking cone. The outer contour of the towering mountain seems to continue inside the building and culminates in the slate roof of the massive tower. We also recommend climbing up to the former monastery complex on the Capuchin Hill from the first half of the 17th century (now a cultural center) with its remarkable monastery church. A Moselle boat tour offers you the most magnificent views of Cochem, the Moselle valley and all the way to Beilstein, the Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle. From the jetty, you can take a short walk through the narrow alleyways of this dreamy little town.
In the afternoon, a delicious culinary experience awaits you (optional): A delicious wine tasting awaits you at a nearby winery. In addition to stories from a Moselle winegrower, you will learn all about the production of this fine wine. Afterwards, a delicious winegrower's snack awaits you.
Day 4: Bernkastel-Kues - Journey home - F
Even the most beautiful journey comes to an end. Today you leave the Moselle with many new impressions in the direction of home. We recommend a stop in the beautiful village of Bernkastel-Kues. We will be happy to organize a tour of the idyllic town, which is known as the "center of the Middle Moselle" (optional).
