Day 2: On royal tracks through London - F
London has been the seat of the British monarchy for centuries, and the city is home to a number of impressive and historically significant royal estates. They offer a fascinating opportunity to discover the history and culture of the British monarchy. Whether you're interested in art, architecture, history or simply the royals themselves, London's royal palaces are a must-see for any visitor to the city. Buckingham Palace is one of London's most famous tourist attractions. It has been the official residence of the British monarch since 1837 and also serves as a venue for royal receptions and state visits. The daily changing of the guard is a popular event for tourists and locals alike. Another royal estate is Kensington Palace. The palace has been a royal residence since the 17th century and was once the home of Queen Victoria. Today it is the residence of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and his family. Kensington Palace is also home to the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Diana Memorial. The Tower is also on the program. It was built in the 11th century and has served as a royal residence, fortress, armory and prison over the centuries. Today it is a museum where you can see the jewels of the British crown. In addition to these three important royal estates, there are other royal palaces, parks and gardens in London that are open to the public. These include Kew Palace, Hampton Court Palace and Greenwich Park. You can also visit Westminster Abbey, the traditional coronation and burial site of British monarchs. Another important landmark is St. Paul's Cathedral with its majestic 111-metre-high dome, which is one of the largest in the world. It is one of the most imposing churches in London, which has dominated the city's skyline for more than 300 years and has become famous worldwide for hosting royal weddings. It was built in the 17th century by order of King Charles II to replace the previous St. Paul's Cathedral, which was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. Try the Whispering Gallery, which allows you to listen to whispered conversations on the opposite side of the cathedral and marvel at its ornate stained glass windows. Day 3: Windsor Castle - the Queen's favorite castle - F
Windsor Castle is one of the most famous residences of the British royal family and one of the largest inhabited castles in the world. The history of Windsor Castle dates back to the 11th century and over the centuries the castle has been continually extended and rebuilt, particularly under King Henry VIII and Queen Victoria. Today, Windsor Castle serves as the official residence of the British royal family and is used for state receptions, among other things. The castle also houses an impressive collection of works of art, including paintings, furniture, porcelain and much more. Visit the magnificent State Rooms, which give you an insight into the life of the royal family. After so much pomp and splendor, you deserve a break. The famous "teatime" is part of the typical British way of life. In true British style, you will cruise along the Thames towards Maidenhead on a pleasure boat for approx. 2 hours and enjoy cream tea and scones with a view of Windsor, the royal racecourse and the stately homes of Eton with the famous college, one of the most expensive boarding schools in the world, where Princes William and Harry, Ian Fleming, Boris Johnson and George Orwell were also enrolled. Pure river romance - enjoy the wonderful excursion before returning to your hotel (optional).
Day 4: See you in London - F
One last "scrambled eggs, bacon and baked tomatoes", then it's time to check out. Still not had enough of this wonderful city? In the morning you could conquer Portobello Road Market, one of the most famous street markets in the world. The hodgepodge of little stores is unique and you are sure to find a suitable souvenir. Film fans will recognize locations from Notting Hill here. You leave the lively district and your new favorite city behind you and travel to the ferry port in Dover.
