  • The most beautiful towns on the Romantic Road
  • Including a glass of wine with the city tour in Dinkelsbühl

Welcome to the Middle Ages! Join us on a special journey along the Romantic Road. When the vacation route between Würzburg and Füssen was officially launched in 1950, it was intended to be the flagship of a friendly Germany. A route rich in culture and history, with medieval towns, half-timbered houses, castles, fortresses, rolling hills and vineyards strung together like pearls on a string. Today, over 70 years later, the Romantic Road has achieved all of this. The towns are still characterized by medieval town centers that cast a spell over their visitors. Visitors from near and far are drawn to the Romantic Road - be part of it! Our inclusive services will give you an insight into the region's tourist highlights and introduce you to four towns and their centuries-old history.

Day 1: Idea: Culinary journey via Nuremberg - A
A stopover in Nuremberg is recommended on the journey. Nuremberg could be briefly characterized as a lively city with the flair of the Middle Ages. In fact, the city presents itself as an exciting symbiosis of a modern city of half a million inhabitants and a medieval center. Gothic old town churches, romantic rows of half-timbered houses and cozy squares create an incomparable atmosphere within the old town, which is surrounded by a five-kilometer-long city wall with a total of 80 towers. You will explore the Old Town during a culinary city tour (optional). What is so special about Nuremberg gingerbread and why is bratwurst actually called bratwurst? Look forward to historical background information and Nuremberg specialties during this amusing, interesting and delicious culinary tour.

Day 2: Medieval towns: Dinkelsbühl and Nördlingen – 70 km - F
In the morning, you will first explore Nördlingen in the Ries. Nördlingen is the only town in Germany with a completely preserved town wall that can still be walked around. In the center of the historic old town is the late Gothic hall church of St. George with its 90m high church and bell tower, popularly known as Daniel. There is still a doorman up here around the clock, 365 days a year. Experience a guided tour through the medieval alleyways of the former free imperial city.
The tour continues to Dinkelsbühl. The former imperial city of Dinkelsbühl - the heart of the Romantic Road - is one of the fortunate places to have survived Germany's eventful history and the turmoil of war almost unscathed. A townscape that has remained almost intact for over 400 years, stately church buildings, proud merchant houses and rich half-timbered architecture make Dinkelsbühl one of the densest and best-preserved late medieval towns in Germany. The solo trumpeter of the Dinkelsbühl boys' band and the sutler welcome you on a tour of the old town. On request, the tour can be rounded off with a culinary surprise and a wine tasting.

Day 3: Excursion to Rothenburg and Feuchtwangen – 165 km - F
If one town has become the epitome of the German Middle Ages, then it is surely romantic Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Even in the 19th century, when Germany was still in a tourist slumber, this town was worth a visit. And it still enchants visitors from all over the world today, as history comes alive here and a walk through the town becomes a journey back in time to the Middle Ages. Rothenburg is regarded as a first-rate urban monument of art and culture, as hardly anything has changed here since the 17th century. Six fortified town gates still lead into the town, which is surrounded by the town wall built in the 13th and 14th centuries and incorporates numerous fortified town towers. It is not far from Rothenburg to Feuchtwangen. Feuchtwangen, the festival town on the Sulzach, can look back on over 1200 years of history. Evidence of this long history can be seen in the market square, also known as the festival hall of Franconia, the former church ensemble and the Romanesque cloister, which becomes the stage for the cloister festival every summer. The Bavarian Casino with its futuristic architecture stands for modern Feuchtwangen. Experience a guided tour of the town and a guided tour of the historic craftsmen's workshops.
