Day 1: Arrival Ancona – Embarkation
The capital of a beautiful natural landscape - the Region Marche in Italy - awaits you to embark on the ferry to Igoumenitsa. We will be happy to organize a guided tour in the beautiful port city of Ancona. Numerous Gothic buildings can be found in the city, including the churches of S. Francesco and S. Agostino.
Day 2: Igoumenitsa – Kalambaka – 220 km - F/A
Arrival in Igoumenitsa in the morning. Via the Katara-Pass, situated in the Pindos Mountains, you continue your journey to Kalambaka. The town lies below the unique Meteroa monasteries, 6 of them are still inhabited and they part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 3: Kalambaka – Area of Delphi – 230 km - F/A
The Meteora monasteries crown the peaks of the mighty rocks in the impressive mountain world of Pindos. A paved road ends at the largest and most important monastery, Meteoron. Opportunity to visit one of the monasteries. Experience the delicacies and specialties of Greece not only by eating them, but also prepare them yourself during a cooking course followed by lunch (supplement). The day's destination is the famous ancient oracle site of Delphi, located high above the Gulf of Corinth. How about a coffee in a typical Greek kafenion on the way?
Day 4: Area of Delphi – Athens – 190 km - F/A
Delphi with its sanctuary of Apollo is considered the most important archaeological site of the classical period. We recommend a stop in Distomo to the orthodox monastery in Osios Lukas with its mosaics of the 11th century. Experience folklore in the old town of Athens (Plaka): Here you can dance Sirtaki and try Greek specialties (supplement).
Day 5: Athens – City tour - F/A
Option for an interesting city tour through the vibrant metropolis with a visit to the impressive Acropolis. If you prefer a relaxed day, we recommend an excursion along the Apollo coast to Cape Sounion with lunch on the way or a nice day cruise to the Saronic islands of Aegina, Hydra and Poros (supplement).
Day 6: Athen – Area of Nafplion/Tolon – 160 km - F/A
You reach the Peloponnese passing the Corinth Canal. The harmonious landscape of the Argolis is serene and pristine: vineyards, olive groves and apricot plantations dominate the landscape. This region is culturally fascinating with Mycenae, the ancient theater of Epidaurus, Tiryns, Midea and the city of Argos. Transfer to the hotel at the Argolic Gulf.
Day 7: Area of Nafplion/Tolon – Olympia – Patras Embarkation – 310 km - F
Through the mountains of the Peloponnese you reach Olympia, home of the Olympic Games, and visit the oldest stadium in the world. The ferry departs in Patras in the evening.
Day 8: Arrival Ancona - F
After arriving in Ancona in the afternoon, you will start your journey home.
